Soft pastel. Vacation in Puerto Vallarta with my wife, son-in-law and daughter. I was trying for a more impressionistic, festive mood, so I tried for less fine details and laid the pastel on with more direct bold strokes. At least that was my intention. Comments on whether or not I was successful in creating this mood (out partying, drinking and eating), would be greatly appreciated.

The colors and technique is excellent. The festive ambiance is certainly there. What upsets the festive feel of it for me is the pose. This would have a stronger effect for me if the figures were more spontaneous, caught offguard and unaware of thier being watched. Or another approach, though perhaps less in line with the festive theme, would be to portray each figure interconnected via their own personality or subjective world rather than by the camera/artist.

I've looked at it many times and come up with the same conclusion as you. Thank you very much.

I'm intriqued that you commented on this one. It is one of my favorites and yet has gotten less of a reception than any of the rest. Thank you for your comments. The French Impressionists are still some of my biggest artistic heroes. Your gallery, by the way, is a thing of upmost inspiration and elogance.
